The average age of the player base has increased. Kids, careers, and the fact that what was reasonable in our twenties is no longer accommodating. This procedure is the Dark Colony uniform standard.

Soft proxy

Players may not soft-proxy into BBC for any action that affects a PC based in or signed into BBC. Characters need to sign in. This includes Video Nefas, Whispers in the Dark, Astral Portents, The Divine Ability, Pebble from the Mountain, Touch the Earth, etc.

The steps

  1. Declaration of Intent. Email staff before midnight the night before the game. PvP may not be declared mid-game unless it is a Monomacy. Combat requiring ST oversight must be logged 24 hours out. If you are unsure the target will attend, log it as a possibility — if approved, we honor it should they show. Lethal downtime PvP is allowed and requires the same oversight. Both players must be signed in.
  2. Scene Lock. When potentially lethal PvP is enacted, all PCs present are immediately Scene Locked. Scenes already in progress pause until the lock lifts. If the declared target is already in another potentially lethal scene, that scene resolves first, then the PvP lock is placed.
  3. Sheets. Storytellers request character sheets, item cards, defensive preparations, and the like. Players have 72 hours to comply. Extension of up to 4 additional days (1 week total) for workload, class, sickness. Real-life emergencies (death in the family, disaster, serious health, military) are evaluated case by case.
  4. When. Discord PvP: all parties agree on a time within the next 14 days on the BBC Discord. Preferred because of access, impartial dicebots, and written records. +7 days extension for the same real-life reasons. If all agree, in person or email may be used. Email combat: 48-hour response deadline on actions and ST requests.
  5. Missed deadlines. After extensions, staff attempts to resolve with the information they have, portraying the PC as needed. If that is not possible, or a party is found cheating or acting in bad faith, an administrative CTA may be issued.
  6. Metagaming concern. Players may request OoC anonymity (alternate Discord logins, actions through an ST intermediary).
  7. Accommodations. The ST running the scene provides standard accommodations per the OWbN Code of Conduct.
  8. Fairness. Bridgeport storytellers are held to a standard of fairness for all participants based in or visiting the chronicle.
