Mixed Genre

Changeling (including Thallain, Skinwalkers, Ogres, Lilin), wraith tempers, and mage spheres.

Bridgeport honors Dark Colony: Hartford mixed-genre rules in addition to the conversions below. We have Jotunn clans. We use the C20 conversion materials and packet — see staff.

Changeling merits

Blessing of Atlas (5 pt). Run as Legendary Attribute (Strength) for now.

Seeming’s Blessing (5 pt). All Birthrights affect your mortal seeming as well as your fae mien, even in the presence of mortals. Without it, Birthrights will not function in the mortal seeming / in the presence of mortals.

Thallain

Nightmare-spawned changelings. Vast majority serve the Fomorians. The Changeling Way has infected them with a sliver of the Tuwathan dream, so a different path is possible — exceedingly rare. Best used as villains. Not appropriate as PCs for most games.

Two legacies: one Nightmare (C20 Thallain), one normal changeling legacy (usually Unseelie).

SeemingThallainBanality triggerImmunity
ChildingPerturbedGoing along with a new experience not in line with their legacyBanality from destroying/killing chimerical things
WilderProwlersPassing up an opportunity to fulfill their UrgeRavaging, Rhapsody, and high Banality exposure in pursuit of Urge
GrumpMisersLosing anything they consider theirsBanality from killing in defense or trespass of what they think is theirs

Affected by the Silver Ban; cannot use Silver Path trods. Otherwise backgrounds, abilities, arts, and mechanics are identical to changelings.

Skinwalkers

Token. As Pooka Shapeshifting, but does not need to be hidden and lasts until sunset. Change into any animal they have killed and taken a token from, up to Glamour in tokens.

Inhuman. After the first Token: free traits Brawny, Quick, and Stalwart.

Dependent. Without tokens, neither of the above.

Ogres

The Nose Knows. Automatically determine Thallain, Seelie, or Unseelie by smell. Static Mental (Kenning) vs 6: general emotional state of everyone in the room, +1 to all socials.

Strength of Oaks. 2 Brawny traits and 1 free retest on Strength. Bonus equal to Glamour on grappling.

Dumb as Rocks. −2 on challenges to avoid ambushes or detect specific social cues (sarcasm, deception).

Lilin

Breaking Bonds. Violate mortal deals and contracts without consequence so long as it is not spite or desire to cause harm. May shield from unfair or unjust magical contracts. Extend either protection to others for 1 Glamour per person.

Endless Charms. A free Gorgeous, Manipulative, or Charismatic social trait above caps. Spend Glamour for a free retest on a Social challenge bidding from that category. Winged merit costs 2.

Wilting Nightbloom. −1 to all challenges in direct sunlight.

Free Spirit. Banality trigger if they honor a commitment instead of doing something else they’d like to do.

Wraith

When a power calls for a challenge pitting an Attribute against a Temper, it becomes an opposed Attribute challenge. Temporary tempers may be spent to retest Temper challenges of the appropriate type.

Mages

  • One Rote (for that Sphere’s level) for every level of a Sphere purchased.
  • Rotes may be researched for free (0 XP), two weeks of downtime each.
  • Ghouled mages cannot raise Arete or Spheres. Ghouldom does not kill the Avatar.
  • Seekings at most once every 6 months.
  • Forces damage from free casting / rotes is a maximum; a given casting inflicts a single damage type. Grades of success add to Sphere level 1-for-1:
  • Sphere × 3 = bashing
  • Sphere × 2 = lethal
  • Sphere × 1 = aggravated
  • A mage can affect a number of targets equal to Arete on a Forces attack.
  • Minor Spheres (Fire, Terror, Domination, Stealth, etc.) require ST approval. Cost 5 / 5 / 10 / 10 / 15 XP.

Mage merits

Ars Vulgaris (3). No increased difficulty for vulgar magic, even in front of sleepers. Still accumulates Paradox.

Mastery of Fire (2, The Spirit Ways p. 103). Reduce fire damage by three; soak fire normally. Two-trait bonus on magic challenges to create, destroy, or manipulate fire.

Years of Wisdom (5, Masters of the Art p. 83). Once per game, automatically succeed at any one non-magical action. STs may disallow, for example in PvP.
